Becoming an effective school leader

The direction and success a school achieves are largely due to leadership. A great school leader facilitates a community of learners where staff, students, parents and community are able to work and learn together effectively.
Here are 7 traits of a highly effective school leader:
1. Be passionate. Be passionate with an ambitious vision and have clear goals broken down into strategic objectives for each session
2. Share power. See the strength in your team and create opportunities for those strengths to flourish
3. Be accessible. Be involved in the day-to-day activities of the school to ensure effective and active learning takes place
4. Be innovative. Question the status quo always by paying attention to the change to strengthen learning and ensure student success
5. Be collaborative. Some of the most powerful opportunities for effective learning lie outside of school walls. Seek local and international partnerships
6. Be rational. Commit to building trust and connection at all levels of the school.
7. Use data. Don’t run a school on emotions and assumptions. Be data-driven
